On November 28, 2024, AMAD hosted a truly special event to mark the Day of the Mediterranean, bringing together voices and hearts from across cultures. Through the universal language of music, we celebrated a day of connection, unity, and shared expression. This year’s celebration was made even more meaningful as young people, children, parents, and grandparents joined dances to create a harmonious atmosphere that transcended barriers.

Our event featured an array of performances, including vibrant dances and carefully chosen music from the AMAD team, bringing together the community in a shared celebration of diversity and empathy. The audience didn’t just watch – they became part of the performance, dancing alongside young performers from the Deaf Student Resource Center and the children attending the “Të qëndrojmë sëbashku” (Together We Stand) community center. It was a joyful exchange where participants and spectators were united in the rhythm of inclusion and cultural respect.

With the support of the Anna Lindh Foundation and co-funding by the European Union, this extraordinary activity was part of a Mediterranean-wide initiative that saw simultaneous musical performances in 23 countries across the region. The Day of the Mediterranean 2024 served as a powerful reminder of our collective human heritage, fostering connections beyond age, social, economic, and cultural barriers.

The performers were a true testament to the spirit of the event:

  • From the Hearing Imparity Student Resource Center: Emanuela, Algend, Anisa, Danjel, Klea, Xhihan, with their teachers Renata and Pëllumb, and the director Orjola Idrizi.
  • From the “Together We Stand” community center: Xheni, Oligeni, Brisi, Ketjona, Melisa, and Ueili.
  • Grandparents, young people, and parents also joined in, dancing and celebrating together.

This event, implemented by AMAD Center and organised by the Anna Lindh Foundation, has brought together people across the Mediterranean, demonstrating how music can unite us all. A big thank you to everyone who participated, whether as a performer or an enthusiastic spectator – you made this event unforgettable!
